A pear cut lab grown diamond laid east west across the finger rather than pointing up it, held by claws, with a hidden halo of pave set diamonds following the full outline of the pear underneath. Turning a pear sideways is a modern choice and it changes the ring completely. Instead of drawing the eye up the finger, the stone spans it, so the diamond looks wider and the hand looks slimmer against it. The hidden halo here is cut to the shape of the stone rather than made as a simple circle, which means the pave narrows to a point at one end and swells around the curve at the other, and a small run of pave continues down onto the bridge below. The band is left completely plain and slim so the sideways stone stays the only strong line. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate. What does east west mean?
The stone is set lying across the finger rather than running along it. It is a modern way to set elongated shapes such as pear, oval, emerald and marquise, and it makes the diamond span the finger instead of lengthening it.

Does an east west pear suit everyone?
It reads as more contemporary and less traditional than a point up pear. It is particularly flattering on longer fingers, and because the stone spans the finger it tends to look wider and more substantial than the same stone set upright.

Is the point protected when set sideways?
Yes. The tip still has its own claw folded over it, exactly as it would in a north south setting. Turning the stone does not leave the point any more exposed.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small pave set diamonds around the collar beneath the centre stone, facing outward. On this ring it is cut to follow the pear outline rather than being a plain circle, so it tapers at the point and curves at the wide end.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
