Design & Selection

Save 20%A pear cut moissanite in six claws on a band that is pave set on three faces. Most set bands carry a single row of stones across the top. This one carries that row and two more, one down each sloping side of the shank, so the accents wrap over the shoulders and the band reads as light from almost every viewing angle rather than only from directly above.
We make it to order in our workshop in Surat, India. Family run, every ring finished and checked by hand.
Look at a conventional pave ring from the side and you see a plain metal wall with a line of stones along its top edge. Look at this one from the side and you see stones.
That matters more than it sounds, because you almost never look at your own hand from directly overhead. You see it at an angle, across a desk or a steering wheel or a cup, and at that angle a single row of pave presents mostly metal. Three rows present stones.
The cost is that there are roughly three times as many accents to set, and each of the side rows has to be cut into a curved surface rather than a flat one, which is slower. That is why this is one of the more expensive bands we make in the pear range, and it is worth saying so rather than pretending it is a small upgrade.
Our Scalloped Pave Hidden Halo ring has one fine row of stones on the top face and adds a hidden halo under the head.
Our Shared Prong Pave ring has one row of larger stones held in shared prongs.
Our French Pave ring has one row of larger stones running further round the shank.
All three are single row bands. This is the only pear ring we make with pave on the sides as well as the top. If the band in the photograph looks unusually bright to you compared with our others, that is why.
The centre is a pear cut moissanite, sometimes called a teardrop. It is a brilliant cut, so it returns light as sharp flashes of white and coloured fire, and its point elongates the finger.
The accents are small round moissanite in three rows. Every stone in the ring is Colorless in body colour and VVS in clarity, matched before setting, which matters on a band this heavily set because any variation would show up as a dull patch in an otherwise bright surface.
Moissanite has a higher refractive index than diamond, which is why it fires so hard, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it holds up to daily wear.
Choose the centre from 2 carat up to 5 carat. Because the band is so bright, the smaller centre sizes hold their own on this design better than they would on a plain shank.
Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Shown in white gold, where the metal disappears almost entirely behind the three rows and the band reads as a solid ribbon of light. In yellow or rose gold you see the warm beading between the stones, which is a different and slightly more traditional effect. Silver gives the white gold look for much less. 10K is the hardest gold, 14K the everyday balance, 18K the richest in colour and softest. White gold is rhodium plated and needs replating every one to two years.
Nothing is taken off a shelf. We cast, set all three rows, file and polish each ring for your chosen metal, centre size and finger size after your order arrives, which is how we can offer twenty one ring sizes and forty combinations.
This ring needs the most cleaning attention of any band in our pear range, and we would rather be plain about it. Warm water, a drop of mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush, worked over all three faces including the undersides of the side rows. With this many small stones, a few months of hand cream will make the whole band look grey. Cleaned properly it looks like new. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming pools, and keep it away from bleach.
Will a wedding band sit flush? Yes on the top face, but the side rows mean a neighbouring band will rub against set stones rather than plain metal. Over years that can wear the outer beading. If you plan to wear a band tightly against it every day, one of our single row designs is the more practical choice.
Can it be resized? Within a narrow range only. Three rows of pave leave very little unset metal to work with. Please get the size right and write to us if you are unsure.
Do the side stones catch on things? The beading is fine and sits close to the metal, so it is not a snagging design, but it is a fully set band and it deserves more care than a plain one.
Is it noticeably brighter than a single row? Yes, particularly at an angle. That is the entire reason for the design.
Is the point of the pear protected? Yes, it has its own claw.
