Pear Cut Moissanite Hand Engraved Scroll Milgrain Solitaire Ring

A pear cut moissanite in six claws above a band carved with a deep baroque scroll. The pattern runs across both shoulders and stops cleanly where the plain back half of the shank begins, so the ring reads as ornate from the front and comfortable from underneath. Fine milgrain beading edges both sides of the carving and continues as a bright line right round the finger.

There are no accent stones anywhere on this ring. Everything you see besides the centre is metal, cut by hand. The scroll throws deep shadows in its grooves, which is what gives an engraved ring its depth; a stone set band gives you sparkle, this gives you contrast and texture.

Why the point is protected

The tip of a pear is the most vulnerable part of the shape. Ours sits under a V shaped claw that wraps around it rather than a single prong resting on top. It is the difference between a point that survives a decade of daily wear and one that chips on a door frame in the first year, and it is not something we treat as optional.

How it compares to our other engraved pear rings

Every design is listed separately. Our vintage leaf and vine ring uses a lighter foliage pattern with tiny flush set moissanite dotted inside the carving, so it sparkles as well as shows pattern. This one is deliberately stone free, and the scroll is heavier and more baroque, cut deeper into a slightly thicker shoulder. If you want the engraving to be the whole point, this is the one. If you want a little glitter in it, the leaf and vine is the other.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Engraving reads most strongly in yellow and rose gold because the carved shadows are darker; in white gold and silver the effect is quieter and more like fine texture. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The scroll is cut with a hand graver, not rolled or cast in, which is why the lines have a bright cut sparkle along their edges that a moulded pattern never has. The milgrain is applied last with a knurling wheel, one bead at a time.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, giving extra attention to the carved grooves where lotion and soap collect. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive polishes, which round off the crisp edges of the engraving and flatten the milgrain. We can recut the pattern and rebead the milgrain years from now if you ever want it sharpened.

Resizing

The back half of the shank is plain, so this ring resizes easily by two sizes or so in either direction without touching the engraving. That is a real advantage over a fully carved band.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Will the milgrain wear flat? The beading softens gradually over many years of wear. It can be rebeaded, and most people like the softened look by then anyway.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes. Because the shoulders rise slightly, a straight band leaves a small gap under the stone. A shallow contoured band closes it.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
