A pear cut lab grown diamond set point up in six claws over a full hidden halo, on cathedral shoulders finished with milgrain, pave and a bezel set round diamond at each base. This is a ring built around its own underside. The hidden halo does not sit as a single row here, it wraps the entire basket so the pave is visible from every angle below the stone. The shoulders then rise as cathedral arches, each one set with a small pave panel, edged in milgrain, and finished with a round diamond in a raised bezel where the arch meets the plain shank. From directly above it is a clean pear solitaire. From anywhere else it is a piece of antique architecture. Free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Accent stones and band

Round pave diamonds wrap the entire basket beneath the centre stone rather than forming a single row. The cathedral shoulders each carry a small pave panel with milgrain beading along the edges, and a round diamond sits in a raised bezel where each arch meets the shank. The lower band is plain polished metal.

Frequently asked questions

Why six claws on a pear?
A pear has one sharp point that chips more easily than the rest of the stone. A V shaped claw caps that point and takes any knock before the diamond does, and the remaining claws hold the rounded belly so the stone cannot rotate out of alignment.

What is a full hidden halo?
Pave that wraps the whole basket beneath the centre stone rather than sitting as one row on each side. It is invisible from above but catches light from every angle below, which is why this ring sparkles from directions where a plain basket would show only metal.

What are cathedral shoulders?
Shoulders that rise in an arch toward the head instead of running flat into it, like the arches of a cathedral. They lift the stone slightly, add strength at the join, and give the profile view something to look at.

What is milgrain?
A row of very small metal beads pressed along an edge with a knurling tool. It softens hard outlines and is one of the clearest signatures of antique inspired jewellery.

Does a pear look bigger than a round?
Yes. It spreads its weight lengthwise rather than downward, so a pear covers more finger than a round of the same carat weight, and the point elongates the finger visually.

Will the point catch on clothing?
The V claw sits slightly proud of the point, so it takes the contact rather than the diamond. That is exactly what it is there for.
