What does the carat weight refer to on this ring

The carat selection is the weight of the pear centre stone. The two pear side stones are proportioned to it and included in addition, so a larger centre selection comes with correspondingly larger sides.

What is a cathedral setting

A cathedral setting is one where the shoulders of the band arch upward to meet the centre stone, in the way the arches of a cathedral rise to meet a vault. It raises the stones, adds height and structure to the side profile, and gives extra metal supporting the head.

Why use matching pears as side stones

Most trilogy rings contrast the shapes, which marks a clear boundary between centre and sides. Repeating the pear three times instead makes the top of the ring read as a single tapering line, and because all three points face the same direction the design has a clear sense of movement along the finger.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Is the point of a pear diamond fragile

The point is the most vulnerable part of the shape, which is why a well made pear setting always protects it with a V prong that wraps around the tip from both sides. That is how all three stones are held here.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, and on a three stone ring that saving applies across all three. Matched pears in graduated sizes would also be slow and costly to source as mined stones, which is part of why designs like this one are far more accessible in lab grown.
