This is our solid metal halo worked in two tones. The halo and its six pointed claws are finished in white, and the shank stays in your chosen colour, so the head reads as a separate bright frame sitting on a warm band. Splitting the ring into two tones does something a single metal cannot: the white halo keeps the area immediately around the stone colourless, which lets the moissanite look cleaner and brighter, while the coloured shank still gives the ring warmth on the hand. The halo itself is solid, with no accent stones anywhere. Made to order in Surat, India, in ten metals and four centre stone sizes.

Design and craftsmanship

Two tone work is not just a matter of plating one part of a finished ring. We build the halo and the shank as separate components, finish each to its own colour, and join them only at the four points where the split shank meets the underside of the halo. Doing it this way keeps the boundary between the two tones crisp instead of blurred, and means the white finish is not sitting on top of a yellow surface where it would eventually wear through at the edges. The dome is polished in stages until the fall from the claw line to the outer rim is completely even, because a metal halo has no stones to hide an imperfect surface. Every ring is hand finished in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10 it is hard enough for daily wear. Its refractive index is higher, so it returns more coloured fire. The white halo matters here: yellow metal touching the girdle of a colourless stone can cast a faint warm tint into it, and keeping that immediate frame white avoids the effect entirely. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the strongest two tone contrast. Rose gold gives a softer version of the same effect. Choosing white gold or sterling silver produces a single tone ring, which is the same design worked in one colour. For daily wear 14K resists scratching on the large polished dome better than 18K.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The shank is plain, so the ring can be resized at the base later without touching the head or the two tone join.

Custom orders

We can reverse the two tones so the halo is coloured and the shank white, make the halo wider or narrower, brush the dome instead of polishing it, set a lab grown diamond or a coloured moissanite in the centre, or make a matching band in either tone. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone is lab created moissanite and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

Which parts are white and which are coloured?
The halo and the six claws are white. The shank is the metal you select. If you select white gold or sterling silver, the whole ring is that one tone.

Is the halo set with small stones?
No, it is solid metal. That is what separates this design from a conventional pave halo and is why it reads as graphic rather than sparkly.

Will the white finish wear off?
The halo is made in white metal, not plated over a coloured one, so there is no thin surface layer to wear through. White gold of any kind is usually rhodium finished and can be refreshed by any jeweller after years of wear.

How is this different from your single tone solid gold halo?
Same head and same shank shape. This version separates them into two colours, which makes the frame around the stone read as brighter and keeps the warmth in the band.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
The halo overhangs the shank, so a straight band meets the ring with a small gap at the top. A contoured band that curves around the halo sits properly, and we can make one in either tone.

Which centre size suits this setting?
All four. We scale the halo to the stone so the proportion holds, and a 4 or 5 carat version makes a genuinely large ring.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush around the six claws, then a soft cloth over the dome. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
