Two generous pear cut moissanite flank an oval centre stone on a cathedral shank that sweeps up from the finger to meet the head. The side stones here are large enough to carry real weight in the design, so the ring reads as a genuine trilogy rather than a solitaire with accents. Each pear is turned point outward so the three stones together form one long, tapering shape across the finger. The cathedral rise gives the head height and puts the centre stone forward, and the shank stays plain so the trio does all the talking. Design and craftsmanship

A cathedral shank is one where the shoulders arch upward to support the head, the way a cathedral arch carries a roof. It does three things here: it raises the centre stone so the oval sits proud of the finger, it gives the two pears a shelf to sit on at the correct height, and it adds strength exactly where a three stone ring needs it, because the head has to carry three settings rather than one. The pears are set with their girdles almost touching the oval so there is no gap of metal breaking up the line. The shank measures about 1.9 mm at the base and is finished plain and highly polished. Every piece is hand set and finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. Large pear side stones show that fire particularly well because a pear has a long facet run from the point to the belly. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, warms the whole ring and makes three colorless stones look brighter against it. White gold gives the classic three stone look and lets the stones run together as one continuous shape. Rose gold is the softest of the three. For everyday wear 14K is harder and more scratch resistant than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The plain shank resizes easily later, though ordering the correct size at the outset is always better. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and both pear side stones are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What is a cathedral setting?
A cathedral setting is one where the shoulders of the band curve upward to meet and support the head, instead of running flat into it. It lifts the centre stone higher and adds strength to the ring.

How large are the pear side stones on this design?
They are noticeably larger than the small accent pears used on our simpler three stone ring, which is what gives this version its balance. They are scaled to the centre stone, so they grow with the 3, 4 and 5 carat options.

Does a cathedral setting catch on things?
It sits higher than a low profile ring, so it is slightly more exposed. It is still comfortable for daily wear, but if you work with your hands constantly a lower setting may suit you better.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
The cathedral shoulders curve upward, so a straight band will leave small gaps at the sides. A contoured band that follows the arch gives a much closer fit, and we can make one to match.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working under all three stones and into the arch of the cathedral where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
