Oval Moissanite Hidden Halo Pave Engagement Ring

This is the version of the oval solitaire that sparkles from every direction. A hidden halo of micro pave runs around the underside of the head, and scalloped pave carries three quarters of the way down the band, stopping short of the base so the ring is still comfortable to wear and easy to resize. The head sits a little higher than a plain solitaire, which is deliberate: it leaves room for a wedding band to stack flush underneath with no gap. Design and craftsmanship

The pave is scalloped rather than channel set, which means the metal between each stone is cut into a shallow curve. That curve exposes more of each small stone to the light and stops the band reading as a solid strip of metal. The line of pave runs from the head down both shoulders and around roughly three quarters of the circumference, leaving the base plain for comfort and resizing. Above it, the hidden halo collar sits just below the girdle of the oval and lifts the centre stone clear of the finger. The band measures about 1.8 mm. Every piece is hand set and finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. On a ring like this, where dozens of small stones are working together, that extra fire is very visible. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold, as photographed, is the classic choice for a pave design because the metal disappears against the colorless stones and the band reads as a continuous line of light. Yellow and rose gold give more contrast and make the pave read as distinct stones. For everyday wear 14K is harder and holds pave more securely over time than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. Because the base of the band is left free of pave, this ring can be resized later, but an accurate size at the outset is always better. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone, the hidden halo and the pave are all lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What does three quarter pave mean?
The pave covers about three quarters of the band, running from the head down both sides and stopping before the underside. It gives almost the look of a full eternity band while keeping the part that rests against your palm smooth and resizable.

Will a wedding band sit flush against this ring?
Yes. The head is raised slightly for exactly that reason, so a straight wedding band tucks underneath without a gap. We can make a matching pave or plain band in the same metal.

Do pave stones fall out?
Not in normal wear when they are properly bead set, which is how we set them. We recommend a prong and bead check once a year, which we do free of charge for the life of the ring.

How big does a 2 carat oval look?
An oval spreads more than a round of the same weight, so a 2 carat oval reads close to a 2.5 carat round face up. With the pave band drawing the eye inward, the centre stone looks larger still.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material rather than a coating, so it cannot wear off.

How do I clean a pave ring?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working carefully between the beads and under the head where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth. Avoid bleach and abrasive cleaners.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
