Design and craftsmanship

With no pave to distract the eye, the shape of the band is the whole design, so the wire is drawn to an even round section and polished before the head is attached. The hidden halo is set into the gallery walls while the head is still open, and the accents are kept low enough that the halo never appears above the girdle of the oval when the ring is viewed from the top. The four claws are filed thin and tapered so they read as lines rather than blocks. A plain shank like this also has a practical advantage: it can be resized at any point around the ring, in either direction, without touching a single stone. Every ring is finished by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. Because there is nothing else on this ring, the centre stone does all the work, and moissanite returns more coloured fire than diamond at the same size. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, makes the plain band read as a warm circle of metal against the colourless stone, which is the most classic version. White gold gives an almost invisible frame. Rose gold is the softest. 14K is the sensible choice for a slim plain band worn every day, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable option.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The band is plain all the way round, which makes this one of the easiest of our designs to resize later.

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and the hidden halo are lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How is this different from your other hidden halo rings?
Those have pave running along the band. This one has a completely plain shank, so all the detail is concentrated under the stone and the ring reads as a simple solitaire from above.

Will the hidden halo make the stone look bigger?
Not from the top, since it sits below the girdle. It adds height, catches light from the side and reflects light back up into the pavilion.

Is a plain band easier to live with?
In practice yes. There are no beads to check, nothing to catch, and it can be resized freely. It will pick up fine surface scratches like any polished metal, and we repolish rings for customers at any time.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Yes. The gallery is compact and the shank straight, so almost any flat or rounded band sits neatly beside it.

Which centre size suits it?
All four. With nothing else on the ring the centre stone sets the whole scale, so choose purely by the size you want on the finger.

Can I have it without the hidden halo?

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, paying attention to the underside of the gallery where lotion collects. Rinse and pat dry.
