Oval Moissanite Hidden Halo Petite Pave Engagement Ring

A slim band, set edge to edge with micro pave, carrying an oval centre stone with a hidden halo beneath it. The band measures about 1.5 mm, which is narrow enough that the stones almost cover it, so from a short distance the shank reads as a thin line of light with no metal visible at all. That narrowness is what makes the oval look large. There is very little band for the eye to compare the centre stone against, and the hidden halo widens the base of the stone without adding anything you can see from above. Design and craftsmanship

Setting pave on a 1.5 mm band leaves almost no margin. The stones are smaller than on a standard pave ring, the beads holding them are correspondingly finer, and there is no room to correct a hole that has been drilled even slightly off centre. Our setters cut the seats one at a time and check the line under magnification before raising a single bead, because on a band this narrow a stone set a fraction high or low is visible immediately. The hidden halo is set into all four walls of the basket, north, south and both sides, so it reads as a continuous ring of light from any angle rather than only in profile. The pave stops before the base of the shank so the ring can be resized. Every piece is finished by hand by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, and that difference is most obvious in very small stones. On a micro pave band the effect is a band that flashes colour as the hand moves rather than sitting flat and white. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold, as photographed, makes the band disappear into the stones almost entirely. Yellow and rose gold leave a thin warm outline around each stone, which reads as more traditional. For a narrow pave band worn daily we recommend 14K over 18K, because it is harder and holds fine beads more securely over the years, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The base of the shank is left plain, so a jeweller can resize the ring later without disturbing the pave. If you are unsure of your size, measure the inside diameter of a ring you already wear or ask us for a free size guide.

Custom orders

We can widen the band, extend the pave to full eternity coverage, remove the hidden halo, set the centre with a lab grown diamond or a colored moissanite, or make a matching petite pave wedding band. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone, the hidden halo and the pave are all lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

Does a thin band really make the stone look bigger?
Yes, and it is the single most effective trick for it. The eye judges the centre stone against the width of the band beside it, so narrowing the shank to 1.5 mm makes the same oval read noticeably larger than it would on a 2.5 mm band.

Is a 1.5 mm pave band strong enough to wear every day?
In solid gold, yes. It is narrow but it is set with depth, and gold work hardens with wear. If you are hard on your jewellery we would suggest 14K rather than 18K, or ask us to make the band at 1.8 mm at no extra cost.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small stones set into the wall of the basket just below the centre stone. It is invisible from directly above, so the ring still reads as a solitaire from the top, but it adds a band of light beneath the oval from the side and on the hand.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Yes, closely. The shank is straight and the head sits low, so a straight band lies flat against it. A slim 1.5 mm wedding band pairs best visually.

Do micro pave stones fall out?
Rarely when set properly. Each bead is raised by hand and checked under magnification, and we offer a free annual check where we tighten anything that has loosened with wear.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Work the brush along both sides of the band and under the head, where lotion collects between the small stones. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
