This ring was designed around the problem of the gap. Most solitaires leave a visible wedge of space between the engagement ring and the wedding band because the head sits proud of the shank. Here the shank is shaped to meet a flat band cleanly along its whole length, so the two sit together as one line on the finger. Above that, a full hidden halo of micro pave follows the outline of the oval under the head, giving the profile view a ring of light that the top view never reveals. Design and craftsmanship

The hidden halo here runs the complete perimeter of the stone rather than sitting as a straight collar, so from any side angle you see a continuous curved line of pave tracing the oval. A gallery wire crosses beneath the basket to brace the head, which is what allows the shank to stay as fine as it does without the setting feeling fragile. The shank measures about 1.6 mm and is finished flat on its inner face so it seats against a wedding band without rocking. Every piece is hand set and finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. The hidden halo compounds that effect by bouncing light back up into the pavilion of the oval from below. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the cleanest contrast between the fine gold line of the band and a colorless centre stone. White gold makes the hidden halo blend into the metal for a subtler effect. Rose gold sits between the two. For everyday wear 14K is harder and better suited to a fine shank than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone and the hidden halo stones are lab created moissanite, and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What does perfect fit mean?
The shank is shaped so that a flat wedding band sits against it with no visible gap. On an ordinary solitaire the raised head forces the two rings apart. Here the geometry is worked out in advance so they meet along their whole length.

Do I have to buy the matching band from you?
No. The profile suits most flat or slightly rounded bands. If you want a guaranteed match, tell us and we will make the band alongside the ring.

How is this different from a secret halo?
A secret halo is a narrow straight collar under the head. This is a full hidden halo, meaning the pave follows the entire oval outline including around the prongs, so it reads as a complete ring of light from the side.

Is a 1.6 mm band strong enough?
In 10K, 14K and 18K gold, yes, for normal daily wear. In 925 sterling silver a band this fine is softer and will bend or show wear sooner, so choose gold if it will be worn every day for many years.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating, so it cannot wear off.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Work carefully around the hidden halo under the head, which is where lotion and soap residue collect on this design. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is cut and set only after it is ordered.
