Design and craftsmanship

Shared prong setting uses one bead of metal to hold two neighbouring stones instead of giving each its own pair. It takes more care to set because a single misplaced prong loosens two stones at once, but the payoff is visible: far more of each marquise and round is exposed, and the band looks lighter than a conventional pave shank of the same width. The marquises are laid lengthways along the shoulder and the rounds sit between them, so the rhythm reads as long, short, long. The head is kept low for comfort, with the hidden halo tucked beneath it. Every piece is hand set and finished by our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. On a shared prong band that effect is amplified because so little metal blocks the sides of each stone. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, makes the gaps between the shared prong stones read as warm punctuation and gives the band real rhythm. White gold blurs those gaps so the shoulders look like one continuous line of light. Rose gold sits between the two. For everyday wear 14K is harder and holds shared prongs more securely over time than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. Because set stones run down both shoulders, resizing later is limited to the plain section at the base, so an accurate size at the outset matters with this design. Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone, the marquise and round accents and the hidden halo are all lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

What is a shared prong setting?
One prong sits between two neighbouring stones and holds both of them. It uses less metal than giving every stone its own prongs, so more of each stone is visible and the band looks lighter and brighter.

Are shared prongs less secure?
They are secure when set properly, which is why we set them by hand rather than casting them in. Because one prong serves two stones, we do recommend an annual check, which we provide free for the life of the ring.

Why mix marquise and round accents?
The marquise stones give length along the finger and echo the elongated shape of the oval centre stone. The rounds break up that line so the band does not read as one long streak. Together they suit an oval better than a row of identical stones.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
The head is low and the accent stones sit close to the band, so a straight wedding band sits reasonably flat but will touch the outermost accent stones. A contoured band gives the cleanest fit and we can make one to match.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working between the shared prongs and under the head where residue collects. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days because of the hand setting involved, plus shipping time.
