Oval Moissanite Full Bezel Solitaire Engagement Ring

A continuous rim of metal wraps the entire edge of the oval moissanite, holding it without a single prong. That rim is what makes this ring different from every prong set solitaire: there is nothing sticking up, nothing to catch on clothing or gloves, and no prong tips to wear down or bend over the years. The bezel also throws a clean outline around the stone that makes the oval read slightly larger and more graphic from above. Design and craftsmanship

A bezel is harder to make well than a prong head. The rim has to be formed to the exact outline of the stone and then burnished down over the girdle by hand, evenly the whole way round, or the line reads crooked. We keep the rim narrow so it frames the oval without eating into the face of it, and we leave the underside open so light still enters the pavilion. The shank is a 2 mm rounded band that divides just below the head, which lightens the profile and gives the bezel somewhere to sit. Every piece is set and finished by hand at our bench in Surat.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, not carbon, so it is a different material from a diamond rather than a lower grade of one. It measures 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, which makes it hard wearing and well suited to daily use. Its refractive index is higher than a diamond, so it returns more colored fire, which is the quality most buyers notice first. A bezel slightly reduces how much light enters from the sides, which in practice tempers that fire a little and gives a calmer, more modern sparkle. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the strongest graphic outline because the warm rim frames a colorless stone sharply. White gold makes the bezel almost disappear so the oval reads as a floating shape. Rose gold sits between the two. For everyday wear 14K is harder and holds a crisp bezel edge better over time than 18K, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable way to try the design.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The plain shank resizes easily later, though ordering the correct size at the outset is always better. Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone is lab created moissanite and the ring is sold as moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

Why choose a bezel setting?
Security and practicality. The stone cannot be knocked loose the way a prong can be bent, nothing catches on fabric or hair, and it is the setting most often recommended for people who work with their hands, wear gloves, or are active.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller?
The rim covers the very edge of the girdle, so a fraction of the stone is hidden. In practice the effect is neutral or slightly the opposite, because the metal outline adds visual width and makes the oval read as a larger, bolder shape.

Is a bezel set stone still bright?
Yes. We leave the base of the setting open so light still enters from underneath. A bezel gives a slightly softer, cleaner sparkle than a prong head rather than a dull one.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Yes. The head is raised on the split shank, so a straight wedding band tucks underneath with no gap. This is one of the easiest solitaires to stack.

Does moissanite scratch or cloud over time?
No. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it resists scratching from ordinary contact, and its brilliance comes from the material itself rather than a coating, so it cannot fade.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. A bezel collects less debris than a prong head, but do work around the join between the rim and the stone. Rinse well and dry with a lint free cloth.

How long does it take to make?
