Oval Moissanite Classic Pave Halo Engagement Ring

A single row of small round accents circles the oval completely, following its curve at an even distance the whole way round, and the same size of stone continues down both shoulders. This is the classic halo done straight: no milgrain, no double row, no hidden accents underneath. Its purpose is simple and it does it well, which is to make the centre stone read considerably larger and to keep the entire top of the ring bright from every angle. Design and craftsmanship

An oval halo is harder to lay out than a round one because the spacing between stones has to change as the curve tightens at each end. Set them all at equal centres and the ends look crowded; set them by eye and the sides look sparse. Our setters plot the row first, using slightly smaller stones at the two ends so the gaps stay visually even all the way round, then cut every seat before any stone goes in. The halo wall is kept low so it does not lift the centre stone unnecessarily, and the shoulder pave is set to the same height so the whole top surface reads as one plane. Every ring is finished by hand in our Surat workshop.

How moissanite compares to a diamond

Moissanite is silicon carbide, a different material from diamond rather than a lower grade of one. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale against a diamond at 10, it is hard enough for daily wear. In a halo the accents sit right next to the centre stone, so any difference in brilliance between them would show; using moissanite throughout keeps the whole head consistent, and its higher refractive index gives the ring more coloured fire than diamond. This ring is sold as moissanite and is never described as a diamond.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold, as photographed, is the most popular for a halo because the metal disappears and the halo merges with the centre stone. Yellow gold outlines the halo clearly and gives a warmer, more traditional look. Rose gold is the softest. 14K is the practical daily choice for a ring with this many small stones, and 925 sterling silver is the most affordable.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. We make US sizes 3 through 13, including half sizes. The lower half of the band is plain, so resizing never touches the pave.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a moissanite ring or a diamond ring?
It is a moissanite engagement ring. The centre stone, the halo and the shoulder pave are all lab created moissanite. We never describe it as a diamond.

How much bigger does the halo make the stone look?
A single row halo typically adds the visual impression of roughly half a carat to a carat, depending on the centre size. A 2 carat oval in this setting reads closer to a 3 carat solitaire from a normal viewing distance.

How is this different from your other halo rings?
Our solid halo designs use a plain metal frame instead of stones, and our three quarter pave halo stops the shoulder pave earlier. This is the plainest, most classic version: one row of accents around the stone and pave down the shoulders.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
The halo extends beyond the shank on both sides, so a straight band meets the shank cleanly but sits a little away from the halo. A contoured band closes that gap and we can make one to match.

Can halo stones fall out?
Bead set stones in a properly cut halo are secure, but a halo has many small stones so an annual inspection is worthwhile. We include a lifetime setting check.

Which centre size suits it?
All four. Two and three carat give the classic halo proportion. Four and five carat make a very large head, so consider whether you want a ring of that scale.

Is a halo harder to clean?
A little. Dust collects between the halo and the centre stone, so use a soft brush around the base of the setting regularly.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working around the halo and along the pave, then rinse and pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners at home.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time. Every ring is made only after it is ordered.
