Pave runs from the setting to about halfway down each shoulder and then stops. Below that the band is plain polished metal all the way round. It is the version most people picture when they think of a pave engagement ring, and the half length is a deliberate choice rather than a cost saving.

The centre stone sits in four slim claw prongs on a plain V shaped bridge, with no hidden halo and no decoration under the basket. Nothing distracts from the oval.

How it compares

Stopping the pave halfway has two practical effects. The band can be resized freely because the lower half carries no stones, and a flat wedding band meets plain metal instead of pave, so nothing rubs. Our three quarter and full eternity designs sparkle more but give up both of those.

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush along the pave. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
