An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws with a step cut emerald diamond standing on each side, all three raised clear above a wide flat band of uniform width that does not taper anywhere around the finger.

Two different things are being deliberately mismatched here, and the ring works because of it. The centre stone is a brilliant cut, faceted into dozens of small triangular and kite shaped facets that scatter light into flashes. The two side stones are step cuts, faceted as long parallel planes running the length of the stone like an open staircase, which produces broad slow flashes of white and black rather than sparkle. Setting the two cuts side by side means the eye reads the oval as bright and busy and the emerald cuts as calm and glassy, and each makes the other more obvious. The band answers the same way. Rather than tapering towards the head as almost every shank does, it runs at the same substantial width the entire way round, flat on the outside with squared edges, the profile of a cigar band. That gives the three stones a broad clean platform to stand on and gives the ring real weight on the hand. Nothing is set into the band and nothing is engraved on it.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a step cut
A stone faceted as long parallel planes running its length, like an open staircase, rather than as many small brilliant facets. It gives broad slow flashes of white and black instead of sparkle.

Why pair a brilliant centre with step cut sides
Because the contrast makes both more visible. The oval reads bright and busy, the emerald cuts read calm and glassy, and neither would be as noticeable beside a stone of its own kind.

Do step cut stones show inclusions more
Yes. Large open facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VS clarity for these side stones rather than anything lower.

How is this different from your other emerald cut sided ring
The other sets its emerald cuts against a conventional tapered shank. This one uses a wide flat band of uniform width the whole way round.

Is a wide flat band comfortable
The outside is flat but the inside is comfort rounded, which is what governs how a band feels. It does wear slightly tighter than a fine band, so we ask about your size carefully.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, though on a wide band we would usually rather remake it at the correct size than stretch or cut it, because a wide shank shows a sizing joint more than a fine one.
