Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws with a bullet cut diamond on each side, each one broad where it meets the centre and tapering outward to a blunted point, held in slim claws on a fine round band.
A bullet cut is one of the less common step cuts and it is chosen here for its outline rather than its sparkle. It is broad at one end, its two long sides converge as they travel, and it finishes in a blunted point rather than a flat edge, so it looks like a shield or a bullet nose. Placed with the broad end against the oval and the point facing outward, it does something a baguette cannot: the width tapers away gradually, so the eye travels from the centre stone outward along a narrowing line and the head appears to melt into the shoulders instead of stopping abruptly. That is why the ring reads as wide and generous across the finger without looking like three separate blocks of diamond. The cut itself is a step cut, faceted in long parallel planes, so the sides give broad calm flashes against the busy scatter of the brilliant cut oval between them. The band is a fine round wire with no stones and no ornament so nothing competes with the outline of the three stones.
A fine round shank, fully polished, plain and unset, rising cleanly to the three stone head. The interior is smooth and comfort rounded.
Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs, which lets the tapering outline of the bullets read most clearly. Yellow and rose gold give the outline a warmer frame.
The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure, we will send you a printable size guide before we begin work.
We can change the carat weight, swap the bullets for tapered baguettes or trapezoids, turn the points inward, add a hidden halo beneath the centre, or make a matching plain wedding band. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and our workshop will prepare a quotation and a rendering before any metal is cut.
Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.
Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.
What is a bullet cut
A step cut stone that is broad at one end, narrows along its length and finishes in a blunted point rather than a flat edge, so its outline resembles a shield or a bullet nose.
How is a bullet different from a tapered baguette
A tapered baguette narrows but still ends in a short flat edge. A bullet comes to a blunted point, so the taper resolves rather than stopping, and the head appears to flow into the shoulders.
Why pair step cut sides with a brilliant centre
The oval scatters light into many small flashes and the step cut sides give broad calm ones. The contrast makes both more visible than either would be beside a stone of its own kind.
How is this different from your other step cut sided rings
Others use tapered baguettes, trapezoids, or emerald cuts at modest or very large scale. This is the only one using bullet cuts with the point facing outward.
Are bullet cut stones fragile at the point
The point is blunted rather than sharp, which is exactly why the cut is made that way, and a claw sits over it. It is no more vulnerable than the tip of a pear side stone.
Can this ring be resized
Yes, comfortably. The shank is plain and unset.
Bullet cuts are cut to order rather than bought from stock, they must mirror one another exactly, and their open step facets show colour that a brilliant would hide. Lab grown material is what makes a properly matched pair affordable, so an E colour VVS2 oval of two to five carats sits between two matched bullets, in fully hallmarked metal, with a traceable origin and no mining.
