A large oval brilliant lab grown diamond held in four white metal claws on a plain rounded yellow gold band, so the head and the shank are deliberately different colours.

Mixing metals in one ring is usually done for looks, but here it does a job. Yellow gold sitting directly against a colourless diamond bounces a faint warm tint into the stone through the claws and the girdle, and on a large oval that tint is visible because the stone is wide and shallow enough to pick up whatever is beneath it. Setting the head in white metal removes that reflection completely, so the diamond keeps its E colour appearance, while the band stays warm yellow against the skin. The claws are long and slim and reach right over the ends of the oval, which is where the shape is most vulnerable to knocks, and the band is a plain rounded wire with no stones so nothing draws attention away from a stone of this size.

The band is a plain rounded wire of even width, polished bright, with no stones and no taper. Where it meets the basket the metal changes from the band colour to white for the head.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold with a white gold head is shown in the photographs. If you select a white metal for the band the whole ring is made in one colour.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why is the head a different colour to the band
White metal at the head stops the warm colour of the band reflecting into a colourless diamond, so the stone looks whiter while the ring still reads as gold on the hand.

Will the two metals wear differently
No. Both are the same karat and hardness. White gold is rhodium plated and we replate it free of charge whenever the ring comes back to us for cleaning.

Does an oval look bigger than a round of the same weight
Yes, noticeably. The elongated outline spreads the same weight over more surface and also lengthens the finger.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily. The band carries no stones.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Two tone construction adds a step, so allow fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
