Under an oval stone most jewellers build an oval basket, because it follows the stone and vanishes beneath it. This one is built as a box. Four flat rails meet at right angles to form a small rectangular cage, and the claws rise from its corners rather than from a curved rim, so from the side the ring shows a piece of clean architecture under the diamond instead of a shadow. The box also sets the stone low. There are no cathedral shoulders lifting the head, no under bezel and no gallery wire above the rails, so the band runs almost straight into the basket and the diamond sits close to the finger, which is why a ring with a two to five carat stone still slides under a cuff. Everything else is left plain: a rounded shank of even width, polished all over, with nothing set into it.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a box basket
A setting cage built from four straight rails meeting at right angles, so it forms a small rectangular box beneath the stone with the claws rising from its corners.

Why use a box basket under an oval stone
Because it does not disappear. A curved basket follows the outline of the stone and is barely seen, while a box sets a straight edged shape against a curved one and gives the ring something to look at from the side.
