This is the plainest ring in the range and the hardest one to get right, because there is nothing on it to look at except proportion. Three things are doing all the work. The claws are tapered rather than parallel sided, thicker where they meet the basket and drawn thin where they fold over the girdle, so they hold securely while covering as little of the stone as possible. The gallery is a trellis, which means the four claws cross under the stone in an open lattice rather than sitting on a solid ring of metal, and that keeps the underside of the oval clear so light passes straight through the pavilion. And the shank is a true half round in section with a domed outer face and a rounded inner face, which is what comfort fit means. A comfort fit shank has more metal in the middle of its wall than at the edges, so nothing presses into the sides of the finger and the ring turns easily over the knuckle. It costs more metal than a flat band and it is the difference between a ring that is worn every day and a ring that comes off in the evening.

The shank is slim and half round in section with a domed outer face, polished bright and left plain. The interior is comfort fit, meaning the inner wall is rounded rather than flat so the ring passes the knuckle easily and does not pinch.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs.

Ring size

The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. A comfort fit band usually feels a little looser than a flat band of the same nominal size, so if you are between sizes we would take the smaller one. Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is comfort fit
The inside of the band is domed rather than flat, so only the centre of the wall touches the finger. It slides over the knuckle more easily and does not press at the edges.

What is a trellis gallery
The four claws cross beneath the stone in an open lattice instead of sitting on a solid collar of metal. It uses less metal under the diamond, so more light reaches the pavilion.

Is a four claw setting secure enough for a five carat oval
Yes, when the claws are properly proportioned to the stone, which is how we make them. If you would prefer six claws for extra reassurance we will make the change at no cost.

Will a plain band show scratches
Polished metal picks up fine marks with daily wear. We repolish free of charge for life, and most owners find the surface settles into an even soft sheen within the first year.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily and by several sizes, because there is nothing set into the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order, so allow fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
