An oval cut lab grown diamond held by six slender pointed claws that are not attached to a head at all but drawn directly out of the shank, which divides at the shoulders and sweeps upward to grip the stone.

There is no basket, no collar and no gallery anywhere in this ring, and that is the point of it. The band separates into strands as it approaches the stone, each strand curves up and twists as it rises, and the end of each one is tapered to a fine point that folds over the girdle. Those six points are the claws. Nothing was made separately and soldered on, so there is no join between head and shank to see, and the stone appears to be held by the band itself rather than mounted on top of it. Tapering each claw to a talon rather than finishing it as a rounded bead has a visible effect from above: a bead claw reads as a small blob of metal sitting on the diamond, while a fine point reads as a line, so far less of the stone is visually interrupted even though six are holding it rather than four. It also sits the stone as low as it will go, because there is no structure underneath to raise it.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a talon claw
A claw tapered to a fine point rather than finished as a rounded bead. From above it reads as a line rather than a blob, so it interrupts the outline of the stone far less.

Do six claws cover more of the diamond than four
Not here. Because each talon is tapered to a point, six of them cover less of the stone visually than four rounded bead claws would.

What does it mean that the claws come from the shank
Nothing is made separately and soldered on. The band divides, rises and tapers into the claws, so there is no join between head and shank and the stone looks held by the band itself.

How is this different from your other no basket solitaire
The other uses four wide flat tabs folded over the girdle. This one uses six fine tapered talons drawn up out of a twisting shank.

Are pointed claws secure
Yes, when properly seated. The point folds over the girdle and grips into a cut seat, and in 14K or 18K gold it holds firmly. We check every claw during servicing, which is included for life.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, comfortably. The band is plain and unset across the palm.
