An oval cut lab grown diamond set into a solid plate of white metal cut to the outline of the stone, held by six pointed petal claws, with the underside of the plate and the whole shank made in warm gold so the two metals meet in a clean line all the way round the head.

Building this head in two metals solves a problem the single tone version does not have to answer. A solid plate is a large reflective surface sitting immediately beside the diamond, and warm gold reflects its own colour into everything it touches, including the pavilion of the stone. On a plate this wide that is a real effect rather than a theoretical one. Making the top face white removes it completely. The plate reflects nothing but neutral light into the stone, so an E colour diamond stays visibly E colour rather than picking up a faint warmth from its own setting. Underneath, where nothing touches the diamond, the metal reverts to gold, and the shank continues in gold so the ring still reads warm on the hand. The join between the two is a hard horizontal line running around the edge of the plate, and it is left crisp rather than blended, because that line is what tells the eye this is a deliberate construction and not a plating. The six claws are cut as pointed petals rising from the white surface, tapering to fine tips over the crown, so the head reads as a flower with the stone at its centre.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why is the top of the plate white and the rest gold
Because a wide plate of warm gold sitting beside the diamond reflects its own colour into the stone. A white top face reflects only neutral light, so the diamond keeps its true colour, while the gold underside and shank keep the ring warm on the hand.

Is this plated or genuinely two metals
Genuinely two metals, joined at a crisp line around the edge of the plate. We leave that line sharp rather than blending it, precisely so it reads as construction rather than plating.

How does it differ from your single tone plate ring
That version uses one warm metal throughout, which gives the stone a field of golden reflection and a softer overall look. This one keeps the diamond optically neutral and gives a harder contrast between plate and stone.

Will the two metals wear differently
At the same karat they wear at similar rates. White gold is rhodium plated for brightness and we replate free of charge whenever the ring comes in for service.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, and by several sizes, because the shank carries no stones and the metal join sits at the plate, away from where a jeweller cuts.

How long does the ring take to make
The plate is built in two metals and joined before the petal claws are shaped, so allow twenty to twenty four working days before dispatch.
