Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a shank that splits into two separate rails, one left plain and polished and the other pavé set, with marquise cut diamonds laid crosswise between them as bridges and long open voids running down both sides of the finger.
Most split shanks divide symmetrically and then rejoin, giving two matching rails and a slot between them. This one refuses the symmetry twice over. First, the two rails are not the same. One is a plain polished rail and the other carries a continuous run of pavé, so the two sides of the split read differently as the ring turns on the hand. Second, the rails do not run parallel. They open away from each other into long lens shaped voids, then draw together again, and at each of those meeting points the goldsmith has set a single marquise diamond laid crosswise, spanning from one rail to the other. Those marquise stones are not decoration added on top. They are the structural bridges holding the two rails at the right distance, so the ring is genuinely built out of diamonds at those points rather than out of metal. The effect from above is a shank that appears to be woven from two different materials, with diamond rungs where they meet, and a great deal of open space letting skin show through.
A shank that splits into two unequal rails, one plain polished and one pavé set, opening into long lens shaped voids and drawing together at marquise diamond bridges. The interior is smooth and comfort rounded.
Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, which is the strongest choice here because the plain rail needs to read clearly as metal against the paved one.
The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure, we will send you a printable size guide before we begin work.
We can change the carat weight, pavé both rails, replace the marquise bridges with rounds or pears, close the voids, or make a contour wedding band shaped to nest against the split. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and our workshop will prepare a quotation and a rendering before any metal is cut.
Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.
Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.
What is a split shank
The band divides into two separate rails before reaching the setting instead of arriving as one piece. It lets light and skin show through, which makes the metal look lighter and the centre stone look larger.
Why is one rail plain and the other paved
So the two sides of the split read differently as the ring turns. Two matching paved rails flatten into a single wide bright band and the split stops being visible.
What do the marquise stones do
They span from one rail to the other where the two draw together, so they hold the rails at the correct distance. They are structural bridges rather than surface decoration.
How is this different from your other split shank rings
Our others use a split cathedral with inner pavé, a split shank under a metal plate halo, or a bezel over a split shank with triangular voids. This is the only one with unequal rails bridged by marquise diamonds.
Will a wedding band sit flush against it
Not a straight band, because the rails open outward at the shoulders. A contour band shaped to follow the split nests neatly, and we can make one to match.
Can this ring be resized
Only slightly. Cutting the shank interrupts both rails and the pavé run, so for larger changes we prefer to remake the band at the correct size.
This design needs a matched pavé run and matched marquise bridges beside a fine centre stone, and any variation in the small stones would be obvious against the plain rail beside them. Lab grown material gives a matched set, so an E colour VVS2 oval of two to five carats sits above consistent accents, in fully hallmarked metal, with a traceable origin and no mining.
Mapple Gems is a jewellery workshop in Surat, India, the city where a large share of the world's diamonds are cut and polished. We grow, cut, grade and set in one place, which is why we can offer certified stones in fully hallmarked gold at workshop prices.
