An oval cut lab grown diamond in four fine claws, sitting on a low collar of pave round brilliants that is invisible from above, above a very slender round band with no stones at all.

Everything about this ring is arranged to make the centre stone look as large as it possibly can. The band is deliberately thin, because a slim shank next to a big oval exaggerates the difference between them. The claws are drawn out fine and set at the very edge of the girdle rather than reaching over the crown, so almost none of the diamond is covered. The basket is cut away to nothing underneath, which lets light through the pavilion instead of trapping it. And then, sitting just below the girdle where you cannot see it face on, there is a low collar of small round brilliants set right around the head. That collar is the secret halo, and it does two things at once. It reflects light back up into the underside of the oval, which lifts the whole stone, and it fills the shadow that otherwise sits between a raised diamond and the finger. Look at the ring straight down and there is nothing but the oval and a hairline of gold. Turn the hand thirty degrees and a band of light appears beneath the stone that was not there a moment before.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a secret halo
A low collar of small diamonds set around the head below the girdle of the centre stone. It cannot be seen when you look straight down at the ring and appears only when the hand turns.

Does a thin band make the diamond look bigger
Yes, noticeably. The eye judges the stone against the width of the shank beside it, so a slender band exaggerates the size of the oval. It is the cheapest optical trick in jewellery and the most effective.

Is a thin band strong enough for daily wear
In 14K or 18K gold, yes. We would not recommend the very finest section in 925 silver for someone who works with their hands, and we will thicken the shank on request at no extra cost.

Why are the claws so fine
Because every millimetre of claw covers a millimetre of diamond. Fine claws set at the girdle leave the crown of the oval almost completely open.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily and by several sizes, because the shank carries no stones.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order and the secret halo is set by hand, so allow sixteen to twenty working days before dispatch.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

This design hides nothing. There is no pave on the shank to distract the eye and no halo around the outline, so the colour and clarity of the oval are the entire ring.
