An oval cut lab grown diamond in six claws, flanked on each side by a substantial round brilliant with a marquise cut diamond beyond it, all carried on a band whose strands separate and entwine along both shoulders.

The accents here are graded rather than uniform, and the sequence is what makes the design work. Closest to the centre stone sits a round brilliant large enough to register as a real stone rather than a chip. Beyond it, further out along the shoulder, a marquise lies at a slight angle with its long axis following the curve of the finger. So the eye travels outward from a big oval, to a medium round, to a small pointed marquise, and the design fades out rather than stopping. That descending sequence is a very old device in jewellery and it does something a row of equal stones cannot, which is make a ring look as though it grew outward from the centre. Underneath, the band is not a single bar. It divides into strands that cross over one another and open into elongated loops along each shoulder before rejoining at the back, so there is visible daylight through the shank from the side. The accents are set exactly where those strands separate, which is why they read as growing from the metalwork rather than as stones applied to a surface.

Band details

The shank divides into strands that cross and open into elongated loops along both shoulders before rejoining toward the back of the finger. All surfaces are polished bright and the interior is comfort rounded.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs. In yellow or rose gold the loops of the entwined shank cast stronger shadow and the metalwork reads more clearly.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Is this a three stone ring
Not quite. The rounds beside the centre are substantial enough to read as side stones, but the marquise beyond them turns the group into a graduated cluster rather than a strict trio. If you would prefer a true three stone we can enlarge the rounds and remove the marquise.

Why do the accents get smaller outward
Because a descending sequence makes the design look as though it grew from the centre. Equal sized accents read as a row and the eye stops at the last one.

Will the entwined shank catch on things
No. The strands are soldered and burnished where they cross, so a fingertip runs over the ring without snagging.

Does this ring sit flush with a wedding band
Not with a straight band, because the shoulders are shaped and open. We make a shaped band that follows the loops, and most customers order the two together.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size. Beyond that the loops change proportion, so we prefer to remake the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
The shank is formed and soldered by hand and every accent is set individually, so allow eighteen to twenty two working days before dispatch.
