Oval Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Pave Laurel Vine Band with Marquise Leaves

An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws above a band worked as looping laurel branches, every loop pave set with round brilliants and hung with marquise cut diamonds set as leaves along its length.

This is the most heavily worked nature design we make on an oval, and the reason it holds together is that the two kinds of stone do two different jobs. The round brilliants are tiny and set in continuous pave along the branches themselves, so the metal of the vine effectively disappears and what you see instead is a line of light looping over and under itself around the finger. The marquise stones are much larger, claw set individually and tilted at different angles, and they are what stops the ring reading as abstract. A marquise is pointed at both ends with a swelling middle, which is a leaf outline, so the eye recognises foliage even though there is not a single piece of carved metal in the design. Around the head the marquise leaves crowd together and stand up at steeper angles, forming a loose collar around the base of the oval that functions as a halo without ever being a circle. Further down the shoulders they lie flatter and further apart, and by the back of the finger they have stopped entirely and the branches run plain. That gradient is what makes a very ornate ring still feel like it grew rather than like it was assembled.

Band details

The shank is formed from looping laurel branches that cross over and under one another from the head toward the back of the finger, pave set along their full visible length. The branches merge into a plain rounded shank at the palm and the inner surface is comfort rounded.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs, where the metal vanishes almost entirely behind the pave and the ring reads as pure stonework.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

How many accent stones does this ring carry
It varies slightly with finger size, but a typical size 6 carries around sixteen marquise leaves and well over a hundred pave rounds.

Is this a halo ring
Not in the strict sense. The marquise leaves crowd around the base of the oval and do the job of a halo, making the centre look larger, but they never close into a ring, so the outline of the oval stays visible.

Will the marquise points catch on things
Each marquise is claw set with the points tucked under a V shaped claw rather than left exposed, which is the standard protection for a pointed stone and is why the ring runs smooth over fabric.

Does this ring sit flush with a wedding band
Not with a straight band, because the vine work is raised and uneven. We make a shaped leaf band that nests into the loops, and it is the most common addition customers order with this design.

Can this ring be resized
Only at the plain section at the back, and only by about one size. Beyond that we remake the shank so the vine work keeps its spacing.

How long does the ring take to make
Every leaf and every pave stone is set by hand, so allow twenty to twenty five working days before dispatch.
