Oval Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring with a Large Stone Halo on an Overhanging Plate

An oval cut lab grown diamond ringed by round brilliants large enough to be centre stones in their own right, all set into a flat plate that overhangs the band on every side, above a slim shank of shared prong accents.

This is not a pavé halo. The stones around the centre are full round brilliants of real size, close to the accents on the shoulders, and they are shared prong set so that a single bead holds two neighbours and almost no metal shows between them. The effect is a second ring of diamond around the first rather than a sparkling outline, and it takes the apparent size of the head far beyond what the centre stone alone would give. Holding all of it is a flat plate. The halo is built into a disc of gold that sits level, with no dome and no cathedral rise, and that disc cantilevers out well past the width of the band, so from the side the head reads as a tabletop resting on a slim column. The shank underneath carries its own run of shared prong accents down each shoulder, ending in a squared step, and the underside of the plate is left open so the pavilion of the centre stone can still take light.

Center stone details

  • Stone type: lab grown diamond
  • Shape: oval brilliant cut
  • Carat weight: 2, 3, 4 or 5 carat, selected at checkout
  • Color grade: E
  • Clarity grade: VVS2
  • Cut and polish: excellent
  • Symmetry: excellent
  • Setting: four claws inside a large stone halo set in a flat overhanging plate

Accent stone details

  • A full halo of large round brilliant lab grown diamonds, not pavé, each of a size normally used as a shoulder accent
  • Shared prong set, so one bead holds two stones and very little metal shows between them
  • A matching run of shared prong round accents down each shoulder, ending in a squared step
  • E to F colour, VS clarity throughout, matched to the centre stone
  • The underside of the plate is left open beneath the centre stone
  • Total accent weight approximately 1.10 carat, scaled to the centre stone you choose

Band details

A slim shank carrying shared prong accents down each shoulder, meeting the underside of the halo plate at a narrow point so the plate overhangs on every side. Comfort rounded on the inside.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, and a warm metal frames a large stone halo well because the plate edge stays visible against the diamonds.

Ring size

The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure, we will send you a printable size guide before we begin work.

Custom orders

We can change the carat weight, use fine pavé for the halo instead of large stones, narrow the plate so it does not overhang, leave the shoulders plain, run the accents all the way round, or make a matching curved wedding band that follows the plate. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and our workshop will prepare a quotation and a rendering before any metal is cut.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a large stone halo
A halo built from full sized round brilliants rather than small pavé. It reads as a second ring of diamond around the centre instead of a sparkling outline.

How much bigger does the halo make the ring look
Considerably. Because the halo stones are large and shared prong set with almost no metal between them, the head reads as a single mass of diamond several millimetres wider in every direction than the centre stone alone.

What does the overhanging plate do
It carries the whole halo as one flat disc that extends past the width of the band, so the head looks broad and level while the ring itself stays slim on the finger.

What is shared prong setting
A setting in which one bead of metal holds two neighbouring stones rather than each stone having its own beads, so far less metal shows between them.

How is this different from your other oval halo rings
Others use fine pavé close set against the stone, a wide polished rim separating a bezel from the halo, or petal shaped cups. This is the only one with a halo of full sized round brilliants set into a flat overhanging plate.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The palm side of the shank is plain below the accent run, which is where a sizing cut is made.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A halo of large stones is only convincing if every one of them matches the centre in colour and cut, because at this size a mismatch is obvious rather than hidden by scale. Lab grown material makes that matching practical across more than twenty stones, so an E colour VVS2 oval of two to five carats sits inside a properly matched halo, in fully hallmarked metal, with a traceable origin and no mining.
