Oval Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Knife Edge Cathedral Split Shank

An oval cut lab grown diamond in four flat strap claws, raised on cathedral shoulders that lift from a knife edge band, with the ridge opening into a long slot on each side before it reaches the head.

The band is knife edged, which means it is not rounded or flat on the outside but comes to a raised ridge running the whole way round. In profile that ridge catches a single bright line of light that follows the finger, and it makes a fairly substantial band look far finer than it is. Approaching the head the shank does two things at once. It rises into cathedral shoulders, sweeping upward to carry the stone clear of the finger, and the knife edge parts into two blades that flare around a long open slot before closing again at the claws. Because the ridge splits rather than the flat of the band, each blade keeps its own edge and its own line of light, so the single highlight becomes two and then returns to one. Beneath the stone the gallery is left as an open cage with cross bars and nothing else: no halo, no under bezel, no accent stones anywhere on the ring.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a knife edge band
A band whose outer surface rises to a ridge along its centre instead of being rounded or flat, so it presents a single bright line of light along the finger.

What is a cathedral shoulder
A shoulder that sweeps upward from the band to meet the setting, like the arch of a cathedral, lifting the stone clear of the finger.

Does a knife edge wear down
The ridge softens very slightly over many years of wear, as any polished edge does. It is repolished during our lifetime service and returns to a crisp line.

How is this different from your other oval split shank rings
Others pair the split with a hidden halo, a bezel, pavé vines, marquise bridges or split claws, and one uses a fine round wire with a narrow slit. This is the only one where a knife edge ridge splits into two blades over a cathedral rise, with no accents at all.

Does the cathedral rise make the ring sit high
It sits higher than a flush setting but lower than a raised solitaire crown. The rise is in the shoulders rather than under the stone, so the head itself stays close to the finger.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The palm side is a solid knife edge band, which is where a sizing cut is made, well clear of the split section.
