An elongated oval lab grown diamond in four claws over a concealed halo, on a band so fine that from a short distance the stone appears to sit on the finger by itself.

The whole design is an argument about where metal should go. A conventional oval solitaire puts a visible amount of gold under the stone to hold it and a comfortable amount around the finger to carry it, and the result is a ring where the eye reads gold as much as diamond. Here the band is drawn down to a knife edge, a narrow wire with a raised centre line that catches a thin highlight along its length, so it reads as a bright line rather than a strip. All the metal removed from the shank is effectively moved into the basket, where a full row of small diamonds is set around the inside of the wall directly under the girdle. From above nothing has changed and the oval is a clean outline. From the side there is a second, smaller oval of light beneath the first, and it is that layer, not the band, that makes the ring look substantial.

Band details

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Both white gold and yellow gold are shown in the photographs so you can compare how the hidden halo reads against a cool and a warm metal.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

A band whose outer surface rises to a ridge along the centre instead of being flat or fully rounded. It looks finer than it is and reflects a single bright line down the finger.

Is a knife edge band strong enough
Yes. The ridge adds stiffness, so a knife edge shank resists bending better than a flat band of the same weight.

Why is the halo hidden rather than visible
A visible halo around an oval widens the outline and makes the centre stone read smaller. A concealed halo adds the same brightness in profile without touching the silhouette.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The band carries no stones, so resizing is straightforward.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Allow fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
