An oval cut lab grown diamond held in claws above a band formed from two entwined vines, with marquise cut diamonds set along the metal as leaves and gathered into a cluster on each shoulder.

The design puts a very regular stone on a very irregular band, and the tension between the two is the whole point. The shank is not one piece of metal. Two strands cross under the head, separate along the shoulders and twist around one another to the back of the finger, so at every point around the ring one strand passes in front of the other and the gap between them reads as real depth rather than as engraved line. The leaves are marquise cut diamonds rather than shaped metal, which is the difference between this and most vine rings. A marquise is pointed at both ends and swells in the middle, which is the outline of a leaf already, so no carving is needed to suggest one. They are set at varying angles along the vines, densest where the strands gather beneath the oval and thinning as they run toward the back, the way real foliage grows toward light. The oval above is set east to west of nothing and simply sits north to south in plain claws, long axis along the finger, and its smooth elongated outline is what keeps the ring from reading as busy.

Band details

The shank is built from two strands that cross beneath the head and twist around one another to the back of the finger. The inner surface is smoothed and comfort rounded so the twist is felt on the outside only.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, where the warm strands read most clearly against the white marquise leaves.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why are the leaves marquise cut rather than carved metal
A marquise is already leaf shaped, pointed at both ends and widest in the middle. Using stones rather than metal means the foliage catches light instead of sitting dark against a bright centre stone.

Will the twisted band catch on clothing
No. The strands are burnished where they cross and the inside of the shank is smoothed flat, so a fingertip runs over the ring without snagging.

Why is the oval set north to south
Set along the finger, an oval lengthens the hand and gives the vines room to gather at the shoulders. Set east to west it would cover the strands that make the design.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size without disturbing the leaf settings. For a larger change we remake the shank so the twist stays continuous and the stones stay evenly spaced.

How much larger does a 5 carat oval look than a 2 carat
An oval spreads more face up than a round of the same weight, so the step from 2 to 5 carat is very visible across the finger. Most customers choosing this design settle between 2 and 3 carat.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order and every leaf is set by hand, so allow sixteen to twenty working days before dispatch.
