Oval Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Carved Vine Shank with Pave Thorns

An oval lab grown diamond over a concealed halo, on a band carved as a vine. The shank narrows and swells along its length, pave runs through the swollen sections, and short thorns rise from it where the vine meets the head.

The thorns are structural, not just decorative. A vine shank is deliberately uneven, and every point where it narrows is a point where the metal is thinner and would bend more readily than a plain band of the same weight. Placing a thorn at each of those junctions puts a small buttress of solid gold exactly where the section is weakest, so the ring keeps the organic profile without becoming fragile. It also solves a setting problem. Pave needs a flat enough bed to hold beads, and a continuously curved vine offers none, so the thorns mark the points where the carving flattens briefly to accept stones. Everything decorative here is the visible end of something the ring needed anyway, which is the difference between carved work and a plain band with texture applied to it.

Band details

The shank is hand carved so that it swells and narrows along its length, with short thorns rising at the junctions where the vine meets the head. The inner face is left smooth and round so the carving is felt only on the outside.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, which suits carved work because a warm metal holds shadow in the hollows and makes the relief legible.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales.

No. They are short rounded points, polished smooth, and they sit on the outer face of the band away from the neighbouring finger.

Yes. The inner face is smooth and round. All the carving is on the outside.
