An oval cut lab grown diamond set east to west across the finger, on a fine band with pave running down both shoulders. Nearly every oval engagement ring is set north to south, with the long axis pointing up the finger. Turning it ninety degrees changes what the ring does. Instead of a vertical shape that lengthens the finger, you get a horizontal bar that occupies its full width, which reads as bolder and considerably more modern. It also sits more comfortably, because the stone no longer extends toward the knuckle and does not catch when you bend the finger. The pave shoulders run into the stone from either side, continuing the horizontal line outward rather than interrupting it. Free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Accent stones and band

Round brilliant pave diamonds run down both shoulders of a fine band, each in its own raised bead of metal, meeting the centre stone from either side. The pave stops before the base so the lower shank stays plain and the ring can be resized.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, frames the horizontal stone warmly and separates it from the pave. White gold and sterling silver merge the pave into the stone so the whole bar reads as one unbroken line. Rose gold is the softest.

Frequently asked questions

What does east west mean?
The long axis of the stone runs across the finger rather than along it. On an oval this turns a vertical shape into a horizontal one and gives a far more contemporary look than the standard orientation.

Is east west more comfortable?
Usually yes. Set north to south a long oval extends toward the knuckle and can catch when the finger bends. Turned across the finger the length runs where there is nothing to interfere with.

Does it still look large?
Yes. The stone fills the entire width of the finger, which many people read as a bigger ring than the same oval pointing lengthways.

Will it sit with a wedding band?
Yes, and neatly. A horizontal stone leaves a straight clean edge along the bottom, so a straight band sits flush against it without the gap a pointed or vertical stone creates.

Is the setting secure in this orientation?
Yes. Four claws hold the oval at the same four points regardless of which way it is turned, and an oval has no points or corners that need special protection.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond is chemically and optically the same as a mined one, graded on the same scales by the same laboratories, at a fraction of the price.
