Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A marquise cut lab grown diamond set north south and held by six claws in total. Elongated V tips wrap over the point at each end, and two claws grip each long flank instead of one, so the stone is caught at six places around its edge rather than four. On a marquise the flanks are the longest unsupported spans of the whole outline, and doubling the claws along them means neither side of the stone has a long stretch of girdle standing free. The claws themselves are drawn out and tapered rather than short and blunt, so they read as part of the design from above. Everything else is plain. A slim polished band, an open basket, no halo and no accent stones. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four carat weights.
A slim plain band of even width, polished and unbroken, running into an open basket. No stones, engraving or milgrain. It sits flush against a straight wedding band.
Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Six elongated claws put noticeably more metal against the stone than four short ones, so the colour choice shows more here than on a minimal setting. Yellow and rose gold make the claws read as a deliberate frame. White gold and sterling silver let them recede into the diamond.
Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. The plain slim shank is one of the easiest designs to resize later. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.
We can reduce it to four claws, set the marquise east west, add a hidden halo, or add pave to the shoulders. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it before you order.
How is this different from your four claw marquise solitaire?
That ring uses V tips at the points and a single claw on each flank, four contact points in total, which gives the most minimal possible look. This one doubles the flank claws to six and lengthens them, so the stone is held more firmly and the setting is more visible.
Why does the flank matter on a marquise?
Because it is the longest curve on the stone. With a single claw per side, a long span of girdle sits unsupported between the claw and the point. Two claws per side shorten that span.
What is a V tip?
A claw folded into a V that wraps over the point of a stone rather than gripping from one side. It is the standard way to protect the tips of a marquise or pear.
Should I choose six claws or four?
Six for security and for a setting you can see, four for the most minimal look. On 4 and 5 carat stones we would generally suggest six.
Does a marquise look bigger than other shapes?
Yes. A marquise has one of the largest face up areas per carat of any cut, and set north south it lengthens the finger.
Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.
A lab grown diamond gives the same hardness, brilliance and fire as a mined stone at a fraction of the price, which is what makes a certified 4 or 5 carat marquise achievable. It is created without mining, so there is no excavation and no doubt about origin.
