A marquise cut lab grown diamond runs the length of the finger, held by six claws with V shaped tips closing over the two points. Beneath the stone a full hidden halo traces the entire outline of the marquise, and the shank carries marquise accents that shrink as they travel away from the centre.

A hidden halo around a marquise is far harder to build than one around an oval, and the difference is worth understanding. An oval is a smooth curve, so a row of equally sized round accents follows it without argument. A marquise has two sharp points and two shallow flanks, which means the halo has to change stone size as it goes: larger accents through the wide belly, progressively smaller ones as the curve tightens toward each tip, and the last few set almost on their edge to turn the corner without leaving a gap. Done properly, the line of light under the stone stays unbroken all the way around. Done carelessly, the points show two dark notches. The graduated accents on the shank repeat the same idea in the open, so the eye reads one consistent rule from the tip of the marquise to the bottom of the band.

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Are the points of a marquise fragile
The points are the thinnest part of any marquise, which is why they are covered by V shaped claws here rather than ordinary round ones. A V tip wraps both facets that meet at the point and spreads the pressure along them.

Does a marquise look larger than other shapes
Yes. For a given carat weight the marquise has one of the largest face up areas of any cut, because the weight is spread into a long shallow outline instead of a deep pavilion.

What length to width ratio do you use
We select stones close to 1.90 to 2.05, which is the range most people find balanced. If you prefer a shorter or longer stone tell us and we will source to your ratio.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, within a moderate range. The lower half of the shank is left plain for that purpose.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days before dispatch.
