A marquise cut lab grown diamond set north to south in yellow gold, lifted over a hidden halo of small round diamonds. The marquise is the most efficient of all the cuts at looking large. It carries more of its weight face up than a round of the same carat, and its long navette outline stretches along the finger, so a 2 carat marquise reads considerably bigger than a 2 carat round. The hidden halo adds a line of light under the stone without widening its outline, and the yellow gold shank is left plain so the shape stays the whole story. Photographed in yellow gold, which warms the long line of the marquise and gives the ring a slightly vintage character. In white gold the same design reads sharper and more modern, and the hidden halo shows more clearly. For everyday wear 14K is harder than 18K, which matters on a marquise because the V prongs at the points take the most knocks.

Frequently asked questions

Does a marquise really look bigger than other cuts?
Yes, for a real reason. A marquise is cut shallow and long, so more of its weight sits in the visible face rather than in depth below the setting. Carat for carat it has one of the largest face up areas of any shape, which is why it is chosen so often when maximum presence matters.

What is the bow tie in a marquise?
A dark band across the centre of the stone caused by light being blocked at the widest point. Every marquise has some. We select stones with excellent cut and symmetry to keep it faint.

Are the points a weakness?
They are the thinnest part of the stone, which is why both ends sit under V prongs that cap the tips in metal rather than gripping the sides. This is not optional on a marquise and we do not build them any other way.

Why keep the band plain?
A marquise already draws a strong line along the finger. Pave on the shoulders competes with that line, whereas a plain shank lets it run uninterrupted. It also makes the ring easier to pair with a wedding band.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time to your address.
