Marquise Cut Lab Grown Diamond Halo Engagement Ring, E Color VVS2

A marquise cut lab grown diamond inside a full halo of small round diamonds, on a fine band. The halo follows the navette outline of the centre stone rather than sitting as a circle around it, which is what makes a marquise halo look deliberate instead of borrowed from a round design. It also does something practical, the accents run right up to the two pointed tips and give them a ring of metal and stone around what is otherwise the most exposed part of the diamond. The overall effect is a ring that wears very large for its carat weight, because a marquise already has the biggest face up area of any shape and the halo extends it further. Every diamond is a laboratory grown diamond, identical in carbon structure, hardness and brilliance to a mined diamond, graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. Each ring is made to order in our own Surat workshop and ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone.

Metal options

This ring is made to order in ten metal choices, so you can match it to jewellery you already wear.

  • 925 Sterling Silver
  • 10K Yellow Gold, 10K Rose Gold, 10K White Gold
  • 14K Yellow Gold, 14K Rose Gold, 14K White Gold
  • 18K Yellow Gold, 18K Rose Gold, 18K White Gold

All gold options are solid gold, never plated or filled. White gold is finished with rhodium for a bright white surface and makes the halo blend into the centre stone so the whole shape reads as one large marquise. Yellow and rose gold outline the halo distinctly against the diamond.

Ring size

Choose your ring size at checkout. We make every size from US 3 to US 13, including half sizes, at no additional cost. If you are unsure of the size, order anyway and contact us after checkout, we will help you confirm it before the ring goes into production.

Custom orders

Want the halo removed for a plain solitaire, a hidden halo instead of a visible one, pave along the shoulders, an east west orientation across the finger, a different centre shape, engraving inside the shank, or a contoured wedding band shaped to follow the halo, we can make it. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it for you.

Frequently asked questions

How much larger does a halo make the centre stone look

Typically a halo adds the appearance of roughly half a carat to a carat, depending on how tightly the accents are set. The effect is real rather than an illusion, because the halo genuinely increases the face up size of the design. On a marquise the gain is particularly noticeable, since the halo extends the length as well as the width.

Why does a marquise halo have to follow the outline

Because a circular halo around a navette stone leaves awkward gaps at the tips and makes the centre look like it has been dropped into the wrong setting. A properly made marquise halo tapers with the stone and comes to a point at each end, which is more work to set but is the only version that looks right.

Are the pointed tips of a marquise diamond fragile

The tips are the most vulnerable part of a marquise, which is why they are always protected by V prongs on a well made ring. On a halo design the surrounding accents give the tips further shelter, since the halo sits proud of the point and takes contact first.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

Is a halo ring harder to look after

It has more settings than a plain solitaire, so it collects more dust and benefits from a regular clean. Warm water, a drop of washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush every few weeks keeps it bright. Have the accent settings checked every couple of years, as you would with any bead set work.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, and on a halo design that saving applies across every accent as well as the centre. A marquise also has the largest face up area per carat of any shape, so the two effects compound and the ring wears very large for its price. Because the origin of every stone is documented from the moment it is grown, a lab grown diamond is conflict free by definition.
