Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A marquise cut London Blue Topaz in solid gold. London Blue is the deepest of the blue topaz grades, a saturated steely blue with a slight grey cast that sets it apart from the paler Sky and Swiss Blue material. The marquise cut suits it well: the long navette outline gives the stone a large face for its weight and the elongated facets show the colour across a wide surface rather than concentrating it. This is a coloured gemstone ring, not a diamond ring, and it is priced and described as one. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four stone sizes.
This ring has no side stones. The shank is plain so nothing competes with the colour of the topaz.
Most of our catalogue is lab grown diamond. This ring is topaz, which matters in three practical ways. Topaz is 8 on the Mohs hardness scale against a diamond's 10, so it is more susceptible to scratching and to chipping if knocked hard, particularly at the points of a marquise. It does not come with an IGI diamond certificate, because that grading system applies to diamonds; we can supply a gemstone identification report on request. And the colour is the whole point of the stone, so it should be judged on hue and saturation rather than on a colourless grading scale.
Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold warms the blue and makes it read richer; white gold keeps it cool and steely and is the more common pairing for London Blue. Rose gold gives the strongest contrast. For everyday wear 14K is harder than 18K.
Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. If you are unsure, measure the inside diameter of a ring you already wear or ask us for a free size guide before ordering.
We can set the same design with a lab grown diamond instead, change the topaz to another shape, add a halo or pave, or use a different blue topaz grade. For any other request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it before you order.
Is London Blue Topaz natural?
The topaz is a natural stone. Almost all blue topaz on the market, including London Blue, begins as near colourless material that is irradiated and heated to develop the blue. This is a long established and stable treatment, the colour does not fade in normal wear, and it is standard across the industry rather than something unusual to us.
Is topaz durable enough for an engagement ring?
It is 8 on the Mohs scale, which is hard but meaningfully softer than a diamond at 10. Worn daily over years it will pick up surface scratches that a diamond would not, and the points of a marquise are the vulnerable spots. If you want something to wear every day for decades without care, a diamond is the more practical stone and we would rather say so.
How should I look after it?
Warm water and mild soap with a soft brush. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam and harsh chemicals, all of which can damage topaz. Take it off for manual work and sport.
Does it come with a certificate?
Not an IGI diamond certificate, since that grading applies to diamonds. We can supply a gemstone identification report on request.
Are the marquise points protected?
Yes. Both tips sit under V prongs, which matters more on topaz than on diamond because the material is softer.
Can I have this design in diamond instead?
Yes. Contact us and we will quote the same setting with a lab grown diamond centre.
How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time.
