Three petals grow from each side of the centre stone, and each petal is a small marquise shaped panel filled with three round accents rather than a single stone. The petals are angled so that one points up, one sits level and one points down, the way leaves come off a stem.

Beyond the petals the band is plain and slim. The clusters sit right against the centre stone and nothing else interrupts the line.

How it compares

Our marquise leaf rings use one large marquise cut stone per leaf. This design uses the marquise as a shape only, and fills it with three small rounds instead. The effect is softer and more textured, and it costs less than setting cut marquise stones. It also keeps the design close to the centre stone rather than running down the band, so the ring stays quiet from the side.

Why an emerald cut

The petals are small and detailed. A large step cut in the middle gives them something clean to sit against, and the flat table means the accents are the only thing scattering light.

Wearing and stacking

The petals sit level with the girdle and do not stand up, so a straight wedding band lies close along the whole shank without catching.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Fitting three stones inside a petal only a few millimetres long means each seat is cut at a different angle so the pave follows the curve of the shape. It is the same skill used in antique cluster work. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 16 to 20 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work the brush around the outside of each petal. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
