The band divides into two rounded strands partway along each shoulder. They swing apart, leaving a long open loop you can see straight through, then cross over one another once before joining again at the head.

Both strands are plain polished metal. There are no stones on the band and no engraving anywhere.

How it compares

Our twisted rope band winds two strands tightly around each other with no gap between them, so it reads as texture. This ring opens the same idea out: the strands separate far enough to leave a real hole in the middle of each shoulder, and they cross only once. From the top you see as much daylight as metal, which is what makes it look lighter than a rope band even though the strands are thicker.

Why an emerald cut

Curved open shoulders framing a rectangular stone is a deliberate contrast. The step cut holds a straight, still shape at the centre while everything around it is moving, and that tension is the whole point of the design.

Wearing and stacking

The strands rejoin behind the finger, so a wedding band sits flat against a smooth surface at the back. Along the shoulders the open loop means a straight band will not lie flush.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. An open loop has to be shaped so both strands carry load evenly, otherwise one side flexes more than the other over years of wear. We forge the split section rather than casting it. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Push the brush through the open loops from both sides. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Does the ring have any accent stones
No. Only the centre stone.

Will the open section catch on things
The strands are fully rounded and lie close to the finger, so there is nothing sharp. The loop sits on top of the finger rather than at the side.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes in either direction, at the single band behind the finger.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
