The band splits into two strands that behave differently. One curves away in plain polished metal and loops back like a branch. The other stays close to the centre stone and carries a fine pave row. Where the two part company a marquise cut accent is set into the gap on each side, angled like a leaf on the fork.

The result is asymmetric and busy at the shoulders while the head itself stays simple: four claws, no halo, nothing between the stone and the eye.

How it compares

Our paired leaf milgrain vine emerald ring makes its leaves from beaded metal and stacks the accents beside the stone. This one hides its leaves in the structure of the band instead: the marquise sits where the shank divides, so the accent and the shape of the ring are the same idea. It is also the only emerald ring we make where the pave follows a curve rather than a straight line.

Why an emerald cut

Everything around the head curves. A step cut, with its straight edges and hard corners, gives the eye somewhere to rest.

Wearing and stacking

The loops make the shoulders wider than the back of the band, so a straight wedding band meets the ring at the outer edge of the loop. A contoured band follows it much more closely.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Pave set around a curve has to be laid out stone by stone, because an evenly spaced row on a straight band becomes uneven as soon as it bends. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 16 to 20 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work through the open loops from both sides and around the points of the marquise accents. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

About forty four in total: one marquise and roughly twenty one small rounds on each side.

Do the open loops weaken the band
No. Each strand is a full thickness band in its own right and the two are joined at both ends of the split.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one size in either direction, at the back where the shank is solid and plain.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
