Emerald Cut Moissanite Marquise Leaf Open Branch Lattice Engagement Ring

The shoulders here are not a band. They are a lattice: several thin strands of metal that split away from the shank, arch over one another and rejoin, leaving open windows you can see straight through. Marquise cut accents are set into the crossings as leaves, and small rounds run in short pave lines along the outer strands.

The pattern thins out about two thirds of the way down and the band returns to a plain round wire at the back.

How it compares

Our other marquise leaf emerald rings lay their stones along a solid band. This one takes the metal away underneath, so the leaves appear to float on open branches. The difference shows most from the side, where you can see daylight through the shoulders. It is the airiest design in the emerald range.

Why an emerald cut

An open lattice has a lot going on. The long unbroken table of a step cut gives the eye somewhere still to rest, and its straight sides read clearly against all the curved branch work.

Wearing and stacking

The lattice sits low and the plain back keeps the ring comfortable. A straight wedding band meets it cleanly at the back and leaves a small gap where the branches begin.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Open work like this is cut away by hand after casting, and each marquise seat has to be filed into a strand narrower than the stone itself. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 16 to 20 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Push the brush through the open windows from both sides so nothing collects behind the branches. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Are the open sections strong enough
Yes. The strands are thickened where they meet and the load is carried by the solid shank underneath, not by the lattice.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one size in either direction, at the plain back of the band. Beyond that the branch work would be affected.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
