The accents around this stone are not pave. They are full sized round brilliants, each one large enough to read as a stone in its own right, set shoulder to shoulder in shared claws so almost no metal shows between them. The halo follows the cut corners of the emerald shape, giving it an octagonal outline rather than a rounded one.

The same large rounds continue down each shoulder, again in shared claws, for about two thirds of the band before it goes plain at the back.

How it compares

Our bezel set octagonal halo uses fine pave on a plain band, so the halo reads as a bright outline. This one uses stones five or six times that size. The halo becomes a second ring of real sparkle rather than a frame, and the ring reads a full two sizes larger on the finger than the centre stone alone. It is the biggest looking design in our emerald range.

Why an emerald cut

Surrounded by this many brilliants, a second brilliant cut in the middle would disappear into them. The flat quiet table of a step cut holds its own and keeps the eye on the centre.

Wearing and stacking

The head is wide and sits above the band, so a straight wedding band meets the shank cleanly and passes under the halo without touching it.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Shared claw setting at this size leaves no room for error: each claw carries two stones and every seat has to be cut to the same depth, or the halo sits crooked. We set the halo in one continuous pass. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 16 to 20 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work up through the open gallery from underneath. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
