Two rounded strands cross under the centre stone and swap sides. One stays plain the whole way. The other carries a short run of round accents that start large next to the stone and get smaller as they go, stopping well before the back of the ring.

The strands are heavier here than on a fine twist, so the ring reads as a rope rather than a thread, and the graduated accents give the shoulders a sense of direction.

How it compares

Our infinity twist pave emerald ring uses thin strands and a long even pave row. This one is heavier in the metal and shorter in the stones, and the accents change size as they go. It is the more substantial of the two on the finger and the less sparkly of them, which is the trade people usually want when the centre stone is large.

Why an emerald cut

Graduated accents draw a line toward the stone. A step cut absorbs that line and stops it, which is why the ring reads as one object rather than as a band with a stone on it.

Wearing and stacking

The crossover sits directly under the head, so a straight wedding band meets the ring where the two strands part. The back of the band is plain and comfortable.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work along the twist rather than across it. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
