A continuous wall of metal wraps the whole way around the emerald cut, folded down over the edge of the stone and cut with the same eight sided outline. There are no claws anywhere on the ring.

Approaching the head the band divides into two strands that pass either side of the bezel and rejoin behind it, so the setting appears to sit inside an open frame rather than on top of a shank.

Why a bezel for an emerald cut

The corners of an emerald cut are its most vulnerable points, and a full bezel covers all four of them. It is the most protective setting we make. The trade off is that the collar covers a little of the outer edge of the stone, so a bezel set 3 carat looks slightly smaller than a claw set 3 carat.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. A bezel for a step cut has to be mitred at every corner so the wall meets the stone at the same height all the way round, which is slower work than a bezel for a round or oval. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 10 to 14 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Run the brush around the outside of the bezel and through the split at the back of the head. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Are there any accent stones
No. This is a plain bezel set solitaire.

Does a bezel dull the stone
Less than people expect. An emerald cut takes most of its light through the table, not the sides, so a bezel affects it far less than it would a brilliant cut.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes, working at the back where the two strands rejoin.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
