A heavy unbroken rim of metal wraps the stone, mitred at the corners so it follows the emerald cut exactly. There are no claws over the top and no beading on the edge. It is the plainest way to hold a stone, and on a large step cut it is also the most graphic.

Behind the bezel the band divides. Two flat strands run apart down each shoulder around a long narrow opening, then rejoin into a single band at the back of the finger.

Our milgrain bezel split shank emerald ring softens the same idea, adding beading to the rim, claws at the corners and teardrop shaped openings. This one takes all of that away. No decoration anywhere, just a rectangle of stone in a rectangle of metal on a band with two holes cut through it. It is the most modern ring in our emerald range.

Why an emerald cut

A plain bezel needs a stone with a shape worth outlining. An emerald cut has straight edges and cut corners, so the rim becomes a drawn line rather than a blob of metal.

Wearing and stacking

Nothing catches. The split gives the ring visual width without adding weight, and the shank narrows to a normal band at the back so it wears like any other ring. A straight wedding band meets the split at its widest point.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. A plain bezel is unforgiving because there is no beading or claw to hide behind, so the rim is filed level and the corners mitred by hand before polishing. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 12 to 16 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Clean along the join between the bezel and the stone, and through the split openings from both sides. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Is a bezel the most secure setting
Yes. The stone is held along its whole edge rather than at four points, and there is nothing raised to be knocked.

Does the split make the ring weaker
No. Each strand is thicker in section than a single band of the same overall width, and they share the load.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes, at the back where the shank is solid.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
