Emerald Cut Moissanite Petite Solitaire Engagement Ring with Ultra Thin Band

An emerald cut moissanite held in four slender claws on the thinnest band we make. The shank is a fine round wire of roughly one point four millimetres that tapers as it rises toward the setting, so from the front there is almost nothing between the stone and the finger. It is the most extreme version of the plain solitaire, built for anyone who wants the centre stone to look as large as physically possible.

Why this ring works

Scale is relative. Put a 2 carat emerald cut on a three millimetre band and it looks proportionate. Put the same stone on a one point four millimetre wire and it looks enormous, because the eye has nothing substantial to measure it against. The claws are drawn out fine for the same reason, covering the minimum possible amount of the outline. Everything about this design is subtraction, which is why it photographs so well and why it suits a step cut, where the outline is the whole point.

Setting and band

Four fine claw prongs grip the bevelled corners of the emerald cut above an open basket that lets light through from underneath. The shank is a plain round wire of approximately one point four millimetres, tapering slightly as it meets the head. Metal is solid throughout, never plated over brass, with a polished interior.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, is warm and traditional. White gold and sterling silver make the band nearly vanish against the hand, which pushes the illusion of size further. Rose gold sits between the two. White gold is rhodium finished.

Ring sizing

Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. If you are unsure, pick the closest size to your usual fit and contact us, and we will confirm it before production starts.

Care

A fine shank is the one part of this ring that needs care. It will not break in normal wear, but it can go slightly out of round if the ring is crushed, so remove it before lifting weights, carrying heavy bags or gripping tools. Clean with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, then dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

How thin is too thin for an engagement ring? Below about one point two millimetres a solid gold shank starts to lose its shape with daily wear. At one point four millimetres in 14K or 18K it holds well for years, provided the ring comes off for heavy work.

Will a thin band really make my stone look bigger? Yes, noticeably. It is the cheapest way to add apparent size to any centre stone, and it costs nothing in carat weight.

Can this be resized later? Yes. A plain unbroken shank with no stones is the easiest of all designs for a jeweller to size up or down.

Which metal should I choose? For maximum whiteness and the most invisible band choose white gold or sterling silver. For warmth choose yellow or rose gold. For daily wear over decades, 14K is the best balance at this width.
