Emerald Cut Moissanite Hidden Halo French Pave Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite raised on four prongs above a hidden halo, set on a band of French pave that runs three quarters of the way around the shank. French pave means the metal between each stone is cut away into a small V shape underneath, so light enters the pave from below as well as above and the row reads as stone rather than metal. A gallery wire crosses beneath the basket for extra support at the larger carat weights.

Why this ring works

This is the most technically finished setting in the collection. Three separate details are doing work at once. The French pave V cutouts open the underside of the band so the small stones stay bright instead of going grey. The hidden halo puts a line of light directly under the crown, which lifts the emerald cut and makes it read larger from the front. And the gallery wire braces the head, which matters because a 4 or 5 carat emerald cut is a long stone and needs support across its length. The result is a ring that looks delicate and is engineered like something much heavier.

Setting and band

Four claw prongs hold the corners of the emerald cut, with a gallery wire running under the basket. A hidden halo of micro pave wraps the base of the crown on all four sides. The shank carries French pave moissanite along roughly three quarters of its circumference, with V shaped cutouts under each stone, then runs plain across the back so the ring can be resized. Band width is approximately one point eight millimetres. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. White gold and sterling silver, as photographed, make the pave, the hidden halo and the centre stone read as one continuous field of light. Yellow and rose gold separate the elements and give more contrast. White gold is rhodium finished.

Ring sizing

Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. The plain section at the back of the shank allows future resizing without disturbing any pave.

Care

French pave has more open metal underneath, which means it stays cleaner than standard pave but also gives soap film somewhere to sit. Clean every few weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working from both above and below the band. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

What is French pave? A pave setting where a small V shaped notch is cut out of the metal beneath each stone. It lets light reach the pavilion of each little stone from underneath, so the row looks brighter and less metallic than standard bead set pave.

Why is there a gallery wire? It is a bar of metal that runs under the centre stone between the prongs. It stiffens the head and stops a long emerald cut from flexing in the setting, which matters most at 4 and 5 carat.

Does the hidden halo make the ring sit higher? Slightly, which is intentional. The extra height leaves room for a wedding band to sit flush underneath the setting.
