Emerald Cut Moissanite Full Bezel Wide Band Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite held in a full bezel, a continuous rim of metal folded over the entire edge of the stone including the cut corners, set into a wide flat band roughly three millimetres across. There are no prongs and no accent stones. The bezel follows the octagonal outline of the emerald cut exactly, so the stone reads as a clean rectangle inset into solid gold.

Why this ring works

A bezel is the oldest setting there is and still the most secure. Nothing sticks up to catch, nothing can bend out of shape, and the girdle of the stone is completely protected. On an emerald cut it also does something a prong setting cannot: because the rim traces the eight straight edges of the stone, the outline stays perfectly geometric instead of being interrupted by four claws. Paired with a wide flat shank, the whole ring reads as a single machined object, which is why this style has become the default choice for people who want something modern and want to wear it every day without thinking about it.

Setting and band

A full bezel of solid metal wraps the complete perimeter of the emerald cut, following all eight edges including the clipped corners, with a fine polished lip over the crown. The setting is open underneath so light still enters from below. The shank is a wide flat band with square edges, approximately three millimetres across, the same width the whole way around, joining the bezel with a clean angled shoulder. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the strongest contrast between the warm rim and the colorless stone, which is the whole point of a bezel. Rose gold does the same more softly. White gold and sterling silver make the rim nearly disappear so the stone reads as floating in the band. White gold is rhodium finished.

Ring sizing

Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. A wide band sits tighter than a thin one at the same nominal size, so many people prefer to go up a quarter to a half size. Contact us before ordering and we will talk it through.

Care

A bezel is the easiest setting to keep clean because there are no prong gaps. Wash with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft cloth, and run the brush around the join where the rim meets the stone. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth. The wide polished face will pick up fine surface marks over years, and a jeweller can repolish it whenever you like.

Questions people ask

Is a bezel more secure than prongs? Yes, meaningfully. There are no claws to bend, snag or wear thin, and the entire girdle is enclosed. It is the setting jewellers recommend for anyone working with their hands.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller? The rim covers a fraction of a millimetre around the edge, so there is a very slight reduction in visible stone. In exchange the outline becomes crisper, and most people find the stone reads larger against the wide band, not smaller.

Why is this priced above the slim band versions? A three millimetre shank uses meaningfully more metal than a two millimetre one, and a full bezel takes longer at the bench than four prongs. Our pricing adds for the extra width rather than hiding it.

Which metal should I choose? Yellow or rose gold for a visible warm rim around the stone. White gold or sterling silver to make the rim recede. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
