Emerald Cut Moissanite Floating Bezel Slim Round Band Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite in a full bezel raised on a very slim round wire band. The bezel is a clean unbroken rim following the octagonal outline of the stone, and it sits above the shank on a narrow neck so that daylight passes underneath it. Against a band this thin the setting appears to hover, which is where the design gets its character.

Why this ring works

Contrast in scale. The shank is deliberately fine, close to one and a half millimetres of round wire, while the bezel is a solid block of metal several times that. Placing a heavy geometric head on a nearly invisible band makes the stone read considerably larger than it measures, and the gap under the bezel keeps the whole thing from looking top heavy. This is the opposite approach to a wide band bezel, which anchors the stone into the metal instead of lifting it out.

Setting and band

A full bezel of solid metal wraps the entire perimeter of the emerald cut, following all eight edges including the clipped corners, with a fine polished lip over the crown. The bezel is open underneath and raised on a short neck above the shank. The band is plain round wire, approximately one point five millimetres, the same width the whole way around. Metal is solid throughout with a polished finish.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the strongest contrast between the warm rim and the colorless stone, and the thin band nearly disappears against the skin. Rose gold does the same more softly. White gold and sterling silver let the rim recede so the stone reads as floating unsupported. White gold is rhodium finished.

Ring sizing

Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. A very thin round band runs slightly looser than a wide one at the same nominal size, so if you are between sizes go down. Contact us before ordering and we will talk it through.

Care

A bezel has no prong gaps and a plain round band has nothing to trap dirt, so this is the simplest ring here to look after. Wash with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft cloth, running the brush around the join where the rim meets the stone and under the raised bezel. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

Is a thin band strong enough? In 14K, 18K and 10K gold, yes, for normal daily wear. In sterling silver a one point five millimetre shank is noticeably softer and will show wear and bending sooner, which is worth knowing before you choose.

Why is the bezel raised off the band? The gap lets light in from underneath and keeps a heavy head from looking like it is sitting flat on a wire. It is also what allows a wedding band to sit closer.

Is a bezel more secure than prongs? Yes. There are no claws to bend or catch, and the entire girdle of the stone is enclosed in metal.

Which metal should I choose? Yellow or rose gold for a visible warm rim. White gold or sterling silver to make the rim recede. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best, and it is the sensible minimum for a band this fine.
