Design & Selection

Save 20%An emerald cut moissanite on a shank that splits into two strands of deliberately different character. One strand is set with continuous pave and punctuated by marquise cut moissanite laid lengthwise along it. The other is plain polished metal. The two cross over one another on each shoulder and again beneath the head, so which strand you see on top changes depending on the angle.
Two identical strands crossing read as a twist, which is a common effect. Two strands of different character crossing read as two separate objects wound together, which is not. Setting marquise stones into the paved strand at intervals gives that strand its own rhythm, so the eye follows it around the finger and loses it behind the plain strand and picks it up again. On a ring this small that is a surprising amount of movement, and it is all done with metalwork rather than stone count.
Four claw prongs hold the corners of the emerald cut above an open gallery. The shank divides into two strands that cross on both shoulders and again under the head. One strand carries bead set round brilliant pave along its full length with marquise cut moissanite accents set lengthwise at intervals. The other strand is plain polished metal. The strands rejoin into a single band at the back. Combined width at the crossover is approximately two millimetres. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.
Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, is what makes the design legible, because the plain strand needs to read as gold while the paved strand reads as light. Rose gold does the same warmer. White gold and sterling silver bring the two strands closer together in tone and soften the contrast. White gold is rhodium finished.
Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. The single band at the back allows minor adjustment later, but ordering the correct size keeps the crossover points sitting symmetrically. Contact us if you are unsure and we will help before production starts.
The crossover points are where soap film and lint collect, because two strands meeting create a narrow channel that a cloth cannot reach. Clean every few weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working into each crossover from both sides and along the pave in both directions. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
Why is one strand plain? Contrast. Pave against pave reads as a single wide band of light. Pave against polished metal keeps both strands visible and makes the crossing points obvious.
What do the marquise accents do? They break the pave into sections and give the strand a rhythm, so the eye tracks it around the finger rather than seeing an undifferentiated row.
Can a crossover shank be resized? Within a size or two using the single band at the back. Larger changes distort the crossover geometry, which is why ordering the correct size matters here more than on a plain band.
Which metal should I choose? Yellow or rose gold for maximum contrast between the two strands. White gold or sterling silver for a softer, more unified effect. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
